Wednesday Wishlist

I was originally planning on sharing my wishlist from some of the newly launched spring collections, but after two days of snowfall and nights spent under blankets and sipping hot chocolate the idea of sharing this seemed a little odd and has since been postponed for a warmer and less wintry day. So, instead I've put together a little wishlist that will help keep you warm while we enjoy our little winter wonderland and watch the country grind to halt as we await more snow showers.

Gloves - ASOS | Coat - New Look | Scarf - ModCloth | Boots - Mel @ Office | Bowling Bag - Top Shop

Throughout the winter months I turn into a bit of an old lady and insist on wearing a longer length coat. I can remember my Nan always telling me I'll catch a chill in my back if I wore short tops in the cold and now it's probably one of my biggest fashion rules for this time of year! I love this biker jacket from New Look, the colour is so workable and the shape is really flattering, cutting in at the waist and giving an hourglass silhouette. I also really like the fact that this coat has a zip as opposed to buttons like many with a similar style do. It may seem like a small thing, but I always find that zips keep the wind out a lot more than buttons, and with it being several degrees below freezing outside any extra warmth will be very welcome!

Another thing I insist on having in my wardrobe when the snow starts to fall is a good pair of waterproof shoes. Being someone who has rather large calves thanks to many years of martial arts growing up, knee length boots have never been an option for me. Thankfully Mel have a fantastic range of ankle boots that are waterproof and simple adorable. These particular boots are made out of recycled materials, and for me get extra points as they give my arches great support without needing to wear my inserts. I actually got these boots in navy in November, unfortunately before they were reduced to only £12, and love them so much, I'm seriously considering getting a pair in another colour. If you are wearing boots like these I'd really recommend wearing a chunky pair of socks with them, although they'll keep your feet dry they're not too good at keeping them warm as well.

To add an extra bit of well needed warmth I've included a scarf and an incredibly sweet pair of gloves to this week's wishlist. Although so people love layering up, I hate wearing loads of clothes just to keep me warm and end up just getting too hot, so for me a scarf chunky knit scarf is the perfect defence against the cold weather. I'm currently attached to the pink, very chunky, knitted scarf I bought in New Look last winter but it unfortunately clashes with a lot of what I'm wearing at the moment. This beige scarf from ModCloth is far more versatile and I love the leaf detailing.

These fox gloves, that can be turned into mittens are adorable. When I saw them I thought of Laura, of A Daisy Chain Dream; they're so sweet and they look like foxes! Knitted gloves may not be the best option if you're planning on playing in the snow, which I will inevitably end up doing, but they're so much warmer than leather gloves and because these have the option of being fingerless you can still use your phone or whatever other touch screen devices you may have to hand.

Finally, this bowling bag from Top Shop completes this week's wishlist. Since helping out on the handbags department at work a few weeks ago I've had a slight obsession with bowling bags but wanted something that was quite classic and easy to work around lots of outfits. This bag seems ideal and thankfully has loads of space so I can finally stop having to play bag tetris every time I leave the house - I'm sick of my earmuffs getting bent and twisted just to fit in my bag!

What are your winter must haves now the snow has started to arrive?
